Income to Live Comfortably by State Map
Current as of 2022.
Methodology
The latest Federal Reserve Report on the Economic Well-Being of U.S. Households states that 34% of US households live financially comfortably. The 66th percentile household income is $107,111, so it is easy to know that that is the average nationwide income to live comfortably. No polling appears to be available for this broken down by state, so I simply weighted this income by the Real Personal Consumption Expenditures, which is a measure of the cost of living in each state.
